Calming neurotransmitter.

Gamma-aminobutryic acid (GABA), as the major inhibitory neurotransmitter in the central nervous system, helps maintain normal brain function.

Suggested Use

1 capsule, 1 to 2 times daily between meals.

GABA is a natural amino acid used to make proteins and hormones in the body. GABA is a messenger in the brain and nervous system helping your body to be calm and to focus. GABA also helps maintain sleep cycles and temperature regulation. GABA and growth hormone are also tied.

Sometimes nerves in our body can over-fire and may not effectively transmit from one nerve to the next. GABA helps prevent over-firing and may promote tranquility for those who have anxiety or are easily angered or agitated. Thus, GABA can be taken to balance mood especially during times of stress

Adults and children make and need growth hormone because growth hormone is not just for growing! It is easy to see if a child has low growth hormone levels because they grow poorly. In adults, growth hormone deficiency is not always so easy to identify because adults have achieved their final height. The deficiency of growth hormone in adults is suspected by looking at specific body changes. For example, because growth hormone maintains a proper amount of fat, muscle and bone if you are seeing changes in these areas you may be deficient. With adult growth hormone deficiency, fat is deposited more easily, especially around the middle of the abdomen. Since growth hormone affects muscles, a growth hormone deficiency gives a change for the worse, which means there is less muscle mass and less ability to exercise. Bones, too, are involved in growth hormone deficiency by becoming weaker. We call this weakening osteopenia or even osteoporosis. Bone weakening can occur in men and women, thus it is not just calcium that keeps bones strong. In summary, symptoms or signs of more fat, less muscle and weakening bones may represent a deficiency of GABA deficiency leading to growth hormone deficiency in adults, but that is not all.

Depending on your diet and your genetics adults may experience an additional problem with low GABA that leads to growth hormone deficiency. Since growth hormone controls fat metabolism, adults with growth hormone deficiency may have a change in their blood fats such as cholesterol. These changes result in a higher overall “bad” cholesterol level in blood.

GABA is made in the brain when the hypothalamus is performing normally and has what it needs (glutamic acid) to make GABA.
